Stanislav "Stas" Gutkovskiy

About Stas

A popular and dedicated fencing coach, Stas has now established his own fencing academy here in Fair Lawn, NJ. With a gentle demeanor but hard-working attitude, Stas expects to teach and train his students at a set pace whether it be for success at an International, National, or Local level. The choice is up to his students but no matter what competition level they may strive for, producing great fencers remains Coach Stas' main goal. With excellent communication skills, a proven effective teaching method, a knack for bringing out the best in his students and a strong history of fencing, Stas remains one of the best and most dedicated coaches for students of all ages.

Fencing History

  • National Champion of Belarus
  • Member of Belarussian National Team
  • Participant of International competitions including World Cups, World Championships, and Europeans Championships
  • 22 years of fencing experience (6 of them as a coach)

Education

  • Graduated Belarussian State University; Minsk, Belarus
  • M.S. equivalent in History and Socio-Political subjects
  • B.S. equivalent in Physical Education

About Vlad

There is no doubt that the fencing wisdom and experience that Coach Vlad brings to New Jersey is beyond comparison. With 40 years of fencing behind him, Coach Vlad has accumulated his wealth of knowledge by being involved in major fencing centers throughout Europe, Asia and now the US. By combining his keen knack for observation, his intelligence and his worldly fencing expertise, Vlad can understand the workings of any fencer as well as provide solutions to any fencing task whether it be at a beginning or elite level. Vlad's approach to instruction, his warmth and unique experience make him a highly admired and respected coach among our GFA fencers and beyond.

Vitalii Druzhynin

About Vitalii

Energy, enthusiasm and passion are all vital qualities of a great coach. In Coach Vitalii Druzhynin, we see them all very clearly.

No matter what, if he is teaching others or fencing in general, he gives everything he knows to get the best results! Whether his student is a young novice or an experienced fighter, Vitalli can and will give enthusiastically the fundamental basics or the strategies of the highest levels. We warmly  welcome Vitalii's teaching talent  to GFA and know he will be a great asset to our club and our fencers.

Nora Gutkovskiy

About Nora
Coach Nora brings to GFA over 30 years of coaching experience, including 10 years of experience working with students of all ages in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New Jersey. With Nora's State Pedagogical University education, Master of Fencing Sport (USSR), and numerous school fencing programs on her resume, her experience with children in particular is most notable.

Coach Nora's specialty is her ability to understand the developmental and learning stages of children and in turn apply fencing and sport knowledge to specific age groups in an effective way. Nora brings not only a kind nature but also a strong sense of determination and hard work to her students. It is for these reasons that Coach Nora is the perfect beginning for our young fencers. There is no doubt that her presence, knowledge and approach add the basis and balance to GFA's exceptional learning environment.




Aleksey Muravyev

About Aleksey
Aleksey Muravyev has coached numerous medalists and many great fencers. He brings a unique perspective to our academy, seeing fencing as not only a sport but an art. Aleksey received his Master's degree in Arts and Physical Education in St. Petersburg in Russia and is now carrying on one of the oldest and strongest traditions in the world, fencing. He is always ready to share his extensive knowledge with students of any age and level.
